Meet the Team
Jessica Waks, MSN, APRN, GNP-BC
Co-Founder
Jessie's clinical background as a geriatric nurse practitioner shapes how BMC thinks about care. Years spent at the bedside with older adults living with dementia taught her that great memory care isn't about managing a diagnosis - it's about the small, consistent things: staff who catch early warning signs before they become hospital visits, routines that give residents a sense of control, and environments designed around dignity, not just safety.
That lens carries into every community BMC evaluates. Jessie looks beyond the numbers to the quality of care itself - staffing, training, and whether residents are truly known as individuals. Her goal is simple: fewer hospital transfers, more good days, and communities where residents can hold onto who they are for as long as possible.
James Smith
Co-Founder
James brings years of experience in real estate underwriting and acquisitions, but his focus at BMC is what happens after the deal closes. He's responsible for protecting the long-term value of every asset BMC acquires, watching financial performance closely, managing risk before it becomes a problem, and making sure each community runs efficiently without compromising the quality of care residents depend on.
That discipline is rooted in a background in finance and years spent building trusted relationships with brokers, vendors, investors, lenders, and other professionals - relationships he now relies on to keep operations running smoothly and to solve problems quickly when they arise. He believes strong asset management isn't reactive, it's about staying ahead of maintenance, building improvements, compliance, and operational issues so that every community stays financially healthy and positioned for the long run.
